Exploring river, myself and installation video on multiple screens.
During the Saankli Art exhibition, Surat, a young architecture student in blue jeans shorts, black top and red pimples asked ‘What is an installation video?’
And I replied,
‘I don’t have a definite answer—I’m still exploring it myself. It exists at the crossroads of art, video, and filmmaking, where boundaries blur. This video is part of that process.’
We all know that images tell stories. When two images are placed together, they create new meaning. But what happens when three images interact? Do they add complexity? Do they confuse the viewer, or do they open new ways to relate and associate?
In this video, I played with contrast, used satire in places, and was direct in others. I’m glad it resonated with many viewers at the Saankli exhibition, sparking thoughts about the Narmada and the choices we—and our governments—are making.
I explored my personal, political, social, and religious relationship with the river.
Hoping to create more such videos on different subjects in the coming years along with films.
